Here’s how to set up basic APA formatting for an essay if your using Pages (version 8.0 or thereabouts). These instructions are in four (4) steps: Set Up Your Document Make Your Title Page Make Your Body Pages Make Your Reference Page You can create a template from these instructions and save it for all your future APA school papers. If you’ll be submitting a paper electronically, be sure to save it as a PDF or Word file, as your teacher may not be able to open documents ending with a .pages file extension. How to Make a Summary

Some key points about summary writing are as follows: Whether it is a sentence, a paragraph, a chapter, or an entire manuscript that you want to summarize, give only the most important ideas of the passage or passages—leave out all the details or ideas that are not crucial to what the author is saying. Try your very best not to project your own interpretation (i.e., give the most important ideas as made explicit by the author). The summary should be as short as possible, to the point, and in your own words. Let’s look at summarizing a short passage of about a paragraph in length.
